Or at least that is what my Grandmom has been telling me since I was a kid. I have literally always been in the front of pictures because I would be hidden if I ended up behind anyone. I can only remember one time in my life - in 6th grade - when we were taking a picture of all the girls in our classroom, I was asked to stand in the back. I can remember being like - wow, that is different! Maybe I'm growing.
Here's the catch - I haven't grown since then. Yep. As I like to say, "I'm 5' on a good day." After 23 years, I've come to like the fact that I am particularly short and love that I can always wear heels if I want to and never fear that I will tower over anyone.
I had a prediction that Sean would soon grow enough that I would be the shortest person in the family - and well, it happened.
-"Hello."
-"Oh hey, Sean. What's up?"
-"Kathryn, GUESS WHAT!"
-"What?"
-"I'm 5'1!!!!"
-"NO. When did you go to the doctor? For real?"
-"Yep. I am."
So that conversation happened about 3 weeks ago - and I have now come to terms with it. I am the shortest Noonan.
You see, pictures in the old days used to be like this:
Sean - the youngest - being held by the older, taller kids.
Now...
this is going to start happening much more often - being that I am the oldest girl yet shortest child.
Repeat after me - good things come in small packages.
Good things come in small packages!
ReplyDeleteThose are such fun pictures!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with being small. You can use it as an excuse to be "dainty."
