I don't think there is a better way to begin a post on Valentine's Day post than with my parents. I continue to realize that the love my Mom and Dad shared was really something special and that most do not get to experience such a partnership. My father was the true definition of a family man and did whatever was needed to provide for our family. My mother continues to be the rock of our family and she took on the role as caregiver better than I think anyone else I know could have. Together the made decisions, together they raised children, and together they built a home and a life that revolved around not only equally loving one another but equally respecting one another.
I will never stop realizing how lucky I am to have had such an amazing example of love. This is one of my favorite pictures of my parents - which was taken the day of my brother, Patrick and Karen's engagement party (another great example of love that I have witnessed).
At the end of the day, my parents always found a way to laugh. I can remember my Mom saying time and time again that she couldn't ever stay mad at my Dad because he always knew what to say to make her laugh.
I know there is not a day goes by that each person in my family does not fondly think about the love that my parents had and we miss my Dad more than can ever be articulated.
Today and always,
I love you, Mom and Dad.
This Valentine's Day I am also very lucky to have my very special someone. We have the best time with one another - whether it is a night out on the town or staying in and making dinner together. I truly believe that each day with him is better than the day before and I look forward to all that is to come.
Happy Valentine's Day to you and your loved ones - may you treasure the love you have in your lives. Thank you for being invested in the the happenings in my life and for lovingly supporting me in my new chapter!
Valentine's present from my Mom! :) |
Great photos in this post!
ReplyDeleteI think we are some of the luckiest people on this earth to have seen and learned from the love your parents shared. It is incredibly rare to have such an honest love built on friendship and mutual respect and admiration.
I know I feel blessed to have witnessed their love and doubly blessed to be married to a man who learned what marriage and family are all about from their example.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Thank you for such a lovely and loving Valentine's tribute. My heart is broken from the loss of my most special Valentine despite the wonderful memories I have of him. Thank God I have all of you to help me through this life without Daddy. I am glad you have found someone to share all the love you have to give!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen for your lovely sentiments too. I am so proud of all of our children and it is heartwarming to see the wonderful life you are all building with love and respect.
Happy Valentine's Day too!!!
